New Bloodlines and Skills Expand Character-Building Options

Path of Exile has introduced a new content update featuring two new Bloodlines classes, a series of new Exceptional Skill Gems, new Transformation Skills, unique items, gameplay improvements, and interface upgrades. The update adds new ways for players to customize builds, experiment with combat mechanics, and manage progression systems throughout their adventures. Players focusing on character development and resource planning, including those interested in Buy Path of Exile Currency options, will find new systems and adjustments that influence future build strategies.

One of the newly introduced Bloodlines classes is connected to the “Ten Thousand Flames Curse” challenge league, providing players with additional progression choices and fresh gameplay experiences. Alongside these additions, the update expands the skill system with multiple new gems designed around risk-reward mechanics, where powerful enhancements come with temporary negative effects.

New Contract Gems Bring Risk and Reward Mechanics

The update adds several Exceptional Skill Gems known as Contract Gems. These skills allow players to strengthen specific abilities while accepting additional drawbacks during combat.

The Bedat Contract enhances projectile-based spells, area effects, or chained beam abilities, increasing damage and expanding attack range. However, activating the skill also applies a negative status effect, requiring players to carefully consider timing and positioning.

The Gore Contract focuses on damage-over-time spell builds. After casting the contract, players receive the “Hunger of Gore” buff, which eventually causes Bloodletting to trigger periodically. Similar to other Contract Gems, the skill increases offensive potential while introducing a temporary disadvantage.

The Ktash Contract improves Vaal spell damage by increasing damage output, reducing Soul gain prevention duration, and returning Souls after use. Meanwhile, the Lesia Contract enhances upcoming channeling spells, increasing their damage and periodically triggering Lightning Arrows during channeling.

These additions provide more flexibility for advanced builds and encourage players to explore different combinations of skills, equipment, and resource management approaches. Players researching efficient progression paths, including ways to manage Path of Exile Currency, may find these new mechanics important when preparing future characters.

Additional Skills and Support Gems Expand Combat Variety

Beyond Contract Gems, the update introduces new Exceptional Support Gems and several Strength/Intelligence hybrid skills.

The Flowing Water Support Gem improves supported skills by enhancing Freeze and Shock effects. It creates a connection between elemental effects, allowing enemies shocked by attacks to also experience Freeze effects and enemies frozen by attacks to receive Shock effects.

The Crystal Fall Support Gem triggers a falling Abyss Soul Crystal when supported skills hit enemies. The crystal crashes onto the target location and supports Slam skills, but it cannot support triggered skills or abilities used by other characters.

New hybrid skills also expand combat options. Mana Infusion Staff allows players to channel arcane energy into their weapon, reducing mana costs and increasing block chance. When blocking, the skill releases an Arcane Wave that damages enemies within a circular area.

Other Transformation Skills include Holy Radiance Burst, Spiral Holy Hammer, Holy Hammer Sweep, and Slaughtering Harvest. These abilities introduce different combat patterns, including shield-based attacks, energy orb consumption, summoned hammer effects, and physical damage-over-time mechanics. Slaughtering Harvest creates a blood-filled scythe attack that grants Blood Charges when enemies survive, allowing players to accumulate up to five charges for increased skill damage and cost.

New Items, Interface Features and Quality Improvements

The update also adds 15 unique items and three new Divination Cards, providing additional equipment and collection goals for players. A new Glimmering Talisman base item type has been introduced, featuring an inherent modifier that grants resistance to all elements.

Several quality-of-life improvements have been included across the game. The Path of Exile 2 keyword and tooltip pinning system has been added, allowing players to view additional explanations for specific terms. This system will gradually be expanded in future updates.

Party gameplay has also received improvements. Players in groups can now interact with Expedition Detonators, Ancient Altars, Harvest plots, and Sentinels, creating a smoother multiplayer experience.

Currency management has been adjusted as well. Unstable Vaal Orbs and Crystallized Resentment now have dedicated spaces within the Currency Stash Tab. Additional crafting bench options have been added, including the ability to reroll three modifiers on a rare item for three Chaos Orbs or reroll one modifier for eight Chaos Orbs.

Gameplay Adjustments and Future Development Direction

The update includes several smaller improvements designed to enhance overall gameplay flow. NPCs including Islah in Kingsmarch, Niko in the Mine Encampment, and Einhar in the Menagerie can now identify items. Starting from Act Two, every town will also contain a crafting bench.

Other adjustments include increasing the maximum Catalyst stack size from 10 to 20, reducing the volume of most summoned Spectres, and moving the Solaris Temple Level 1 waypoint in Act Eight closer to the entrance of Level 2.

The development team has also continued improving sound effects, visual effects, environmental details, and overall presentation quality. These changes aim to provide a more consistent experience while supporting the growing complexity of Path of Exile’s character-building systems.

As new skills, items, and gameplay systems continue to expand, players will have more opportunities to experiment with different builds and progression methods. For those planning long-term character development, understanding market resources and managing Path of Exile Currency efficiently will remain an important part of preparing for future challenges.
