Call of Duty: Warzone is preparing for its next chapter with a new Operator filter designed for Modern Warfare 4 players, while also confirming continued support for weapons and cosmetics carried forward from previous Call of Duty titles.
The upcoming feature gives players more control over how Operators from different games appear during Warzone matches. At the same time, the game will continue supporting classic weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7, although some Gunsmith and loadout customization options will change.
New Operator Filter Lets Players Limit What They See
The new Operator filter is designed specifically for Modern Warfare 4 and focuses on the appearance of Operators imported from other Call of Duty games.
When the filter is enabled, players will see Modern Warfare 4 Operators in place of Operators and Operator skins from other titles, including Black Ops 6. The change applies to both the Warzone lobby and actual matches.
The filter affects:
- Enemy Operators
- Teammate and squad Operators
- Operators from previous Call of Duty games
- Operator appearances shown in the lobby and during matches
However, the system does not replace the Operator selected by the player themselves. If a player equips an Operator from another Call of Duty title, that Operator will continue to appear normally from their own perspective.
The setting only changes the individual player's visual experience and does not affect what other players see. It will also be turned off by default, meaning players will need to activate it manually if they want to limit the appearance of legacy Operators.
Previous Call of Duty Operators and Skins Will Remain Available
The introduction of the filter does not mean that older Operator content is being removed from Warzone.
Beginning with Season 1, Warzone will continue to feature Operators and weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7. Previously earned or purchased skins, blueprints, and other collection items will remain part of players' existing inventories.
This approach allows Modern Warfare 4 to establish a more recognizable visual identity without removing content that players have already collected across earlier Warzone integrations.
For players who follow the wider Call of Duty ecosystem, this also means that existing collections will remain relevant as the new Warzone chapter begins.
Classic Weapons Will Stay in Warzone
Warzone's weapon transition will follow a similar approach.
Weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 will remain available through the Classic Weapons tab in the Warzone Loadout menu. Players will still be able to use these weapons, but their customization system will work differently from the new Modern Warfare 4 weapon lineup.
The Gunsmith system and previously created custom loadouts will no longer support classic weapons or classic blueprints in the same way. However, these weapons will not simply become bare base versions without attachments.
Instead, each classic base weapon will provide a version containing five attachments. Existing classic weapon blueprints with established attachment configurations will also remain available.
This gives players continued access to older weapons while allowing the new weapon system to put greater emphasis on Modern Warfare 4's design.
Modern Warfare 4 Weapons Become the Core of the New Chapter
The goal is to make the new Warzone weapon ecosystem feel closely connected to Modern Warfare 4 while preserving familiar options for long-time players.
Rather than completely removing older weapons, the system separates them into the Classic Weapons category. This gives the new weapon lineup a clearer identity while allowing veteran players to continue using weapons they have already unlocked and collected.
For players who spend time building specialized loadouts, understanding this distinction will be important when transitioning into the new Warzone season.
Raven Software Continues Regular Weapon Balancing
Weapon balancing will also remain an important part of Warzone's ongoing development.
Raven Software plans to continue its commitment to weapon balance updates every two weeks. The goal is to keep the Modern Warfare 4 weapon pool active throughout each season instead of allowing the metagame to remain unchanged for long periods.
Frequent balance adjustments can also create more room for different weapons and playstyles to enter the conversation as players adapt their loadouts.
For players researching different ways to approach Warzone progression and multiplayer content, discussions around Buy Call of Duty Black Ops 2 Bot Lobbies may also appear alongside broader Call of Duty community topics, although the new Warzone Operator and weapon systems are focused on the current Modern Warfare 4 ecosystem.
What This Means for Warzone Players
The upcoming changes represent a continuation rather than a complete reset of Warzone's long-running content model.
Modern Warfare 4 will provide the primary identity for the new weapon system and Operator experience, while legacy Operators, skins, weapons, and blueprints will continue to be accessible. The new Operator filter gives players additional control over the visual experience without removing legacy content from the game.
As the next Warzone season approaches, players can expect the combination of new Modern Warfare 4 content, classic weapons, existing collections, and regular balance updates to shape the evolving gameplay environment. For players following Warzone news and progression strategies, EZBUFF can also be part of the wider discussion surrounding the game's changing economy and long-term content structure.
